From the dissolution of the Soviet Union to the collapse of apartheid in South Africa, Bill Keller’s groundbreaking contributions to journalism have chronicled some of the most important stories of our time. Over the course of his decorated thirty-year career with the New York Times, Keller was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for his reporting from Moscow and served as the executive editor of the paper for eight years. Looking to deepen the national conversation about criminal justice issues, Keller now serves as the editor in chief of The Marshall Project, a nonpartisan news organization focused on stimulating reform of America’s system of crime and punishment. Join the IOP for a discussion with journalist Bill Keller on his storied career at the frontline of journalism, his work at The Marshall Project, and the state of criminal justice in United States. This event is co-sponsored by the University of Chicago Law School's Criminal Law Society and Defenders.
